-2024 Paris·Prince Gong’s Mansion Fashion Show- was held

On September 28, 2023, the “2024 Paris·Gong Wang Fu Fashion Show” made its debut at the Wagram Hall in Paris, organized by the Gong Wang Fu Museum with support from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The event drew an impressive crowd of over 300 attendees, including Lu Shaoye, the Chinese Ambassador to France, and Minister Counsellor Chen Li. Notable guests also included representatives from UNESCO, the Bureau of International Relations and Strategy, the French National Research Agency, the French Academy of Fine Arts, and the Château de Chantilly.

The Gong Wang Fu Museum has always been focused on delving into and highlighting the essence of traditional Chinese culture through its rich historical architecture and extensive collections. Through the years, it has worked hard to creatively innovate and transform traditional Chinese culture, drawing inspiration from more than 200 years of cultural history and the unique aspects of ancient popular culture. In light of recent commitments by leaders from China and France to rejuvenate cultural exchanges, the inaugural Gong Wang Fu Fashion Show in Paris serves as a testament to the evolving landscape of traditional Chinese culture.

To enhance collaborative efforts, stimulate exchanges, and foster friendly relations between the people of China and France, the “2024 Paris·Gong Wang Fu Fashion Show” is set to return as part of the China-France Cultural Tourism Year. Co-organized by the Chinese Cultural Center in Paris and backed academically by the Tsinghua University Academy of Fine Arts, the event is being executed in partnership with Beijing Lawrence Xu Fashion & Apparel Co., Ltd. and Beijing International Design Week Co., Ltd.

Renowned fashion designer Lawrence Xu takes the lead as the principal designer for this show, teaming up with emerging young designers to unveil 48 haute couture pieces. These creations draw on significant historical cultural elements from Gong Wang Fu, with designs titled “Tianxia Di Yi Fu,” “Fu Qing You Yu,” “Hai Ma Tian Hua,” and “Xi Fu Hai Tang.” They highlight traditional Chinese colors, intricate embroidery, and heritage techniques such as mother-of-pearl inlay and Yun brocade. The integration of academic research in these designs provides a theoretical foundation aimed at promoting craftsmanship and the aesthetic of Eastern beauty to a global audience.

The Gong Wang Fu Museum envisions the “Gong Wang Fu Fashion Show” as an excellent opportunity to blend traditional Chinese culture with contemporary living. The museum seeks to foster deeper exchanges and mutual understanding between Eastern and Western civilizations, facilitate a global narrative of Chinese stories and voices, and continually amplify the influence of traditional Chinese culture around the world.
