The Canton Fair remains popular today, and business negotiations and cooperation continue to deepen.
The Canton Fair has reached the third day of its first phase, and the atmosphere at the venue remains vibrant with a variety of exciting activities. So, what’s in store for today? Let’s join our reporter, Zhang Qi, to find out.
Reporter Zhang Qi: The first phase of the Canton Fair lasts five days, and we’ve now reached its midpoint. During the first couple of days, many buyers were mostly exploring the exhibits and comparing options. However, today, we’ve noticed that numerous buyers are more focused, heading straight to their desired exhibitor’s booth to engage in discussions. Compared to the previous days, the time spent in negotiations at various booths has noticeably increased.
Fostering Transactions and Industry Connections
Reporter Zhang Qi: It’s not just individual businesses seeking opportunities; many trade associations and buyer delegations from different regions are actively collaborating to create more efficient platforms for connecting foreign trade companies with potential orders and market expansions. For instance, during this Canton Fair, the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products has hosted three promotional events across multiple industries, including electronics and electrical appliances. Additionally, there’s an international hardware industry matchmaking event today, showcasing Zhongshan, a city in Guangdong known for traditional manufacturing. This time, Zhongshan companies have set up 871 booths, with nearly 500 dedicated to competitive industries like hardware. Especially after the opening of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel at the end of June, the demand for upgrading manufacturing in Zhongshan has become more urgent. The Canton Fair provides an excellent platform for showcasing local strengths and fostering direct economic cooperation.
Reporter Zhang Qi: Today, there’s also a company and brand showcase—the Shanghai Foreign Trade Brand Promotion Event. Additionally, two industry forums are taking place: the Canton Fair Industry Trend Forum and the Canton Fair Trade Credit Forum.
Global Design Institutions Boosting Innovation in Manufacturing
Reporter Zhang Qi: A notable feature of this year’s Canton Fair is the participation of 113 design institutions from 12 countries and regions, including Germany and France. This initiative aims to provide exhibitors with global high-quality design resources. For example, we are currently at a booth hosted by an Australian design company, strategically located in the corridor connecting various exhibition halls to facilitate business discussions.
Reporter Zhang Qi: Over the years, their participation has successfully brought innovative ideas and key technical support to manufacturing enterprises, leading to the development of highly marketable products.
Reporter Zhang Qi: This phase of the Canton Fair emphasizes advanced manufacturing, an advantageous sector for our country, which is known for its manufacturing capabilities. More than 8,000 companies attending the fair hold national high-tech and specialized “little giant” titles, reflecting a growth of over 40% compared to the last session. The challenge of sustaining innovation in advanced manufacturing can be tackled with the help of these 113 high-quality international design resources, further assisting exhibitors in enhancing their innovation and core competitiveness.
