Chinese and Malaysian entrepreneurs Xiamen University Malaysia held exchanges to inherit the spirit of Jiageng

On September 27, 2023, an important gathering took place at the Xiamen University Malaysia Campus, where a group of alumni entrepreneurs from Xiamen University teamed up with Malaysian business leaders to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mr. Tan Kah Kee. This event aimed to explore ways to honor Tan Kah Kee’s legacy and strengthen collaborative efforts between China and Malaysia.

During a session titled “Opportunities and Challenges for Chinese Enterprises Going Global,” entrepreneurs from both countries engaged in lively discussions about the investment climate, relevant policies, and legal frameworks. They shared insights on potential collaboration and identified various opportunities available for partnership. There was a shared understanding that, given the current global context, business leaders from China and Malaysia should embody the spirit of Tan Kah Kee, leveraging local advantages while maintaining a global perspective to advance their enterprises and boost cultural and economic exchanges.

Chen Ming, the great-grandson of Tan Kah Kee, expressed his hopes that this exchange would inspire the business community to further promote Kah Kee’s values and collaborate to benefit society and education, especially during this landmark anniversary.

The event featured Zeng Tong, President of the Xiamen University Alumni Entrepreneurs Association, along with prominent Chinese business figures such as Li Xilong and Huang Xiaofang. Malaysian representatives included Cai Wenzhou, the First Deputy Secretary-General of the Malaysian Chinese Chamber of Commerce, as well as Chen Shunfeng, Ma Hankun, and Qiu Quanyu from the Malaysian business sector.
