The filling of the subgrade test section of the Foshan Nanhai section of the Guangzhou-Zhanjia Railway has been completed
On October 20th, the construction of the foundation of the test section for the Nanhai District segment of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang Railway (the construction section on behalf of) was completed, providing reliable materials and settlement data for subsequent large-scale construction.
The Guangzhou-Zhanjiang Railway is a crucial part of the national “Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal” high-speed railway network, which features a coastal passenger corridor with speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour. This railway is notable for being one of the highest-standard, longest, and most complex projects in the history of Guangdong Province, with significant investments involved.
Once operational, the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang Railway will serve as an essential high-speed rail corridor linking the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Hainan Free Trade Port, and the Beibu Gulf city cluster. This railway will facilitate intercity passenger transport between the Pearl River Delta and the western regions of Guangdong, significantly reducing travel time and improving transportation conditions for residents in the west.
The test section is being constructed by China Railway Group’s Guangzhou Company. This segment measures 202 meters long, specifically between DK16+805 to DK17+007, with two levels of slope and a maximum fill height of 8 meters.
According to the Guangzhou Company, the construction process has involved on-site evaluations, utilizing previous groundwork plans while carefully analyzing the impacts of personnel, machinery, materials, methods, environment, and the overall project on quality, safety, progress, costs, and eco-friendly practices. The team has focused on data collection and processing to determine optimal parameters such as thickness of loose fill, moisture content, compaction cycles, types of compaction equipment, and the best combinations of machinery.
Through this test section’s construction, the team aims to conduct comprehensive quality assessments, validate the feasibility and effectiveness of their construction plans, and provide a scientific basis for future extensive groundwork. This effort lays a solid foundation for the safe, high-quality, and efficient construction of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang Railway.
