What innovative measures have been taken in the exhibition area setting of this CIIE- Ministry of Commerce’s response

On October 24, the Ministry of Commerce held a press conference to discuss key initiatives in the business sector. During the event, a reporter asked about the upcoming 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE), emphasizing the importance of the business exhibition component. The reporter inquired about any innovative measures being introduced in this year’s exhibition layout and the characteristics of the innovation incubation area.

In response, He Yadong, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, explained that this year’s business exhibition will continue to feature six major areas: food and agricultural products, automobiles, technological equipment, consumer goods, medical instruments and healthcare, and service trade, along with a special innovation incubation area. He highlighted that innovative designs have been implemented within each of these areas to enhance the function of increasing imports and facilitating trade, while also focusing more clearly on emerging productivity characteristics. Notably, the participation and satisfaction levels of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are set to increase.

The layout of the exhibition areas showcases fresh ideas. For the technological equipment sector, a new materials section will debut, serving as an international exchange platform to promote innovation in this field. The artificial intelligence experience area will be upgraded to a 3.0 version, featuring applications such as embodied robotics and AI large models. In the food and agricultural products section, the area dedicated to African products will be expanded, allowing more SMEs from the least developed countries in Africa to showcase their unique offerings. The consumer goods area will introduce a new “Silk Road Dream” home décor display, featuring products from SMEs in relevant countries. Furthermore, a special section focusing on health and elderly care will be created in the medical exhibition area, showcasing representative products aimed at promoting the silver economy.

International exhibitors are also exploring new avenues. This year, over 70 foreign trade associations from more than 50 countries and regions will be present, bringing along more than 1,500 SMEs, including some first-time participants like the Portuguese Food Association and the Ghana Export Promotion Authority.

The exhibit will gather new strengths. As mentioned earlier, in addition to the six main exhibition areas, a dedicated innovation incubation area will cater to global startups, internal incubation platforms within multinational corporations, and international incubators. This initiative has proven effective in previous years and is set to see new growth this year, with an increase in participating entities and projects. For the first time, curation will focus on four key sectors: digital economy, green low-carbon initiatives, life sciences, and manufacturing technology, showcasing approximately 360 innovative projects, a record high for the event.
