The first anniversary of the opening of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway is praised by Indonesian people

On October 17th, local time, a celebration was held in Jakarta marking the one-year anniversary of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train’s operations. Over the past year, the train has seen strong growth in passenger numbers, with its operations remaining safe and orderly, significantly enhancing its impact on surrounding areas.

The event was attended by several prominent figures, including Indonesia’s Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi and the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia, Wang Lutong. Minister Sumadi expressed that the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train has brought innovative Chinese achievements to Indonesia, improved transportation within the country, and facilitated increased movement among cities along the route, earning high praise from the Indonesian people.

In his speech, Ambassador Wang Lutong stated that they are eager to use the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train as a benchmark to deepen bilateral cooperation across broader and more profound areas under the framework of building a community with a shared future.

Officially launched on October 17, 2023, the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train connects the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, with the tourist hub of Bandung. It is the first high-speed railway in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, stretching 142.3 kilometers with a maximum operational speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

In the past year, the train has transported a total of 5.79 million passengers, with a peak daily occupancy rate reaching 99.6%. The number of trains in operation increased from 14 at the start to 52 during peak times, with a total of 15,826 train services run and over 2.57 million kilometers safely traveled.
