Angry shooting in Luolu kills 2 men and injures 1

On the afternoon of October 10, a deadly road rage incident occurred on the I-5 freeway in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles. A passenger was shot and killed, and a driver was seriously injured and transported to the hospital, while two gunmen remain at large. The incident also resulted in multiple vehicle collisions and led to road closures during rush hour, causing significant traffic delays.

According to City News Service, investigators were still searching for the two suspects as of November 11. The California Highway Patrol reported that the shooting took place around 4:10 PM on October 10. Preliminary investigations indicated that the road rage altercation involved a gold Cadillac sedan and a dark Dodge Durango SUV. In a statement released by the Highway Patrol, it was noted that the two vehicles were chasing each other, with the Cadillac ultimately rear-ending another vehicle and coming to a stop. Two Hispanic men exited the Dodge Durango, each armed with a gun, and opened fire on the occupants of the Cadillac. KTLA5 reported that the assailants fired five or six shots at the Cadillac.

Following the shooting, the Cadillac driver turned around and drove against traffic, colliding head-on with other vehicles, including a Tesla and a deep red Dodge Challenger.

The Highway Patrol confirmed that both the driver and passenger in the Cadillac were injured by gunfire, with the passenger dying at the scene and the driver being hospitalized with serious injuries.

As of now, law enforcement has not released the identities of the injured and deceased. The Highway Patrol expressed condolences to the families of the victims in their statement regarding this “senseless tragedy.”

The case is currently under investigation by the Southern Division of the Highway Patrol, and they encourage anyone with information to call 323-259-3200.

The incident occurred during evening rush hour, resulting in complete closure of all southbound lanes on the I-5, which caused major traffic jams. The freeway reopened at 12:20 AM on November 11.
