Chinese actor Hu Ge won the Asian Content Award at the 29th Busan International Film Festival
On the evening of October 6, the spotlight shone brightly at the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea as the Asian Contents Awards and Global OTT Awards took center stage. We caught up with Chinese actor Hu Ge, who took home the Best Actor award for his remarkable performance in the television series “Blossoms.” Meanwhile, the Best Actress award went to Taiwanese actress Ariel Lin for her impactful role in “Not Good Enough.”
In an emotional acceptance speech, Hu Ge shared his heartfelt thanks to the Busan International Film Festival for honoring his portrayal of “A Bao.” He reflected on how this character symbolizes the countless individuals striving during that era, emphasizing that this recognition truly belongs to all of them. Hu Ge also expressed his gratitude to director Wong Kar-wai and the entire crew for their dedication in bringing powerful stories to life and showcasing a significant period through “Blossoms.”
But the accolades didn’t stop there; “Blossoms” also secured the Best Series award that night, with Hu Ge graciously accepting the award on behalf of Wong Kar-wai and sharing a message of appreciation.
Wong Kar-wai conveyed his deep gratitude for the recognition “Blossoms” received from the Busan Film Festival. He expressed thanks to every colleague involved in the project and acknowledged the unwavering support from his family, all of whom played a vital role in making this achievement possible.
He shared the journey of creating “Blossoms,” noting that it was his first series, a decade-long endeavor filled with its fair share of challenges. Yet, Wong remains steadfast in his belief that film and television possess the unique ability to transcend language barriers and cultural boundaries. Through a story set in China three decades ago, he aims to connect with diverse audiences, helping them appreciate the richness and beauty of life. He ended his speech by reiterating his gratitude to everyone who contributed to this project.
The 29th Busan International Film Festival runs from October 2 to October 11, celebrating the best in film and television. The Asian Contents Awards, which began in 2019, recognize outstanding television series and streaming programs produced in Asia. In 2023, the awards expanded to include global streaming content, now known as the “Asian Contents Awards and Global OTT Awards.”
