Israel launches bombing of Iranian military targets, White House has been notified- will not participate
The White House has confirmed that it is aware of Israel’s retaliatory actions against Iran and has made it clear that it will not be participating in these military actions. Earlier today, Israel began precision strikes on Iranian military targets in response to a ballistic missile attack by Iran on October 1. According to Reuters, the White House received prior notification from Israel before the airstrikes took place.
Iranian state media reported multiple explosions heard in the capital, Tehran. Reuters cited state television stating that the loud explosions might have originated from the activation of Iran’s air defense system.
In comments reported by CNN, a senior U.S. government official reiterated that the United States would not be involved in Israel’s military operations against Iran.
Sean Savett, a spokesperson for the White House National Security Council, stated, “We have been informed that Israel is conducting targeted strikes on military objectives within Iran. This is a self-defense exercise and a response to Iran’s ballistic missile attack on Israel on October 1. We recommend that you reach out to the Israeli government for more information regarding their actions.”
