Li Shulei leads a CCP delegation to visit Mexico
During a recent visit to Mexico from October 19 to 21, Li Shulei, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China and the head of the Publicity Department, met with prominent figures including the President of the National Regeneration Movement (MORENA), Mario Delgado, Senate President Alejandro Armenta, and Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard. This visit was at the invitation of Mexico’s ruling party and included participation in a forum on cultural exchange between China and Mexico.
In his discussions, Li emphasized the deepening political trust and productive cooperation between China and Mexico, highlighting how the strategic guidance from both countries’ leaders has led to significant collaborative efforts in various multilateral arenas. He noted that as important countries of the Global South with rich historical civilizations, China is keen to work alongside Mexico to implement key agreements made by their leaders. Li expressed China’s commitment to advancing the global civilization initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping and strengthening cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, technology, culture, academia, and tourism. He underscored the importance of protecting cultural heritage and fostering a deeper, comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations.
On the Mexican side, the government under President Andrés Manuel López Obrador places significant importance on developing its relationship with China and is eager to enhance practical cooperation across diverse fields to enrich the comprehensive strategic partnership. They recognize and appreciate the global civilization initiative that President Xi has put forth, showing interest in engaging in mutual cultural exchanges with China. As a ruling party, MORENA aims to deepen dialogue and exchanges with the Communist Party of China to further facilitate the growth of Mexico-China relations.
