Pingnan, Fujian- Green industry moves towards -new- and people’s livelihood is improved with the hope of -people-
In a recent visit to the Ningde HuaYang New Composite Materials Co., Ltd., located within the Pingnan High-Tech Industrial Park in Ningde, Fujian Province, I discovered a vibrant scene in their workshop. With 13 production lines operating at full capacity, workers were either piecing together fiberglass or diligently inspecting products, creating a bustling atmosphere of productivity.
The company specializes in the research, production, sales, and testing of composite materials, primarily serving the new energy vehicle industry. Utilizing the advanced HP-RTM process, which is a leading technology in China’s composite materials sector, their main products include battery housings for electric vehicles. In 2023, the company achieved a production value exceeding 70 million yuan.
According to Jian Maolin, the plant manager, they are currently pushing hard to meet delivery deadlines. “At full capacity this year, we can produce 420,000 units, generating an expected annual output value of 130 million yuan,” he explained.
Industrial development serves as a critical pillar for urban growth. In recent years, Ningde has attracted prominent players like CATL, New Energy Technology, Qingtou Group, SAIC Motor Corporation, and Southeast Copper, establishing four internationally competitive industry clusters in lithium battery new energy, new energy vehicles, stainless steel new materials, and copper materials.
The focus on green industry has become a new driving force for economic development in Pingnan County. The county has actively integrated itself into Ningde’s lithium battery new energy ecosystem by constructing high-standard industrial parks and bringing in upstream and downstream enterprises such as Bangpu New Energy and Times Electronics. This effort aims to foster the emergence of clustered new industries.
Local officials are committed to leveraging the area’s abundant land reserves to support the core industries by enhancing and extending the industry chain, creating a comprehensive industrial cluster.
On October 27, the Ningde City government conducted a work inspection in Pingnan County, reviewing the overall relocation project of the Pingnan County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, the above-mentioned composite materials company, and the operational status of the Pingnan Sports Center.
The intertwining of economic development and improved living standards was evident as I toured the relocated hospital project, marked by its distinctive traditional architecture.
The hospital project, a key provincial initiative with a total investment of 300 million yuan, plans to invest 100 million yuan in 2024 alone. Spanning over 25,726 square meters, it aims to establish a sub-center for county-level medical services while emphasizing the unique strengths of traditional Chinese medicine and preserving its cultural heritage.
Upon completion, the traditional medicine hospital is set to synchronize its relocation with the maternal and child health hospital, adopting a multi-hospital operational model that retains clinical specialties while integrating medical technology departments. This approach will optimize the allocation of medical equipment, technology, and personnel to better meet the diverse healthcare needs of the community.
Officials indicated that the project has passed completion inspections and aims to finish comprehensive evaluations by the end of October, with hopes of completing the relocation by year-end.
Beyond the hospital project, Pingnan has accelerated the construction of various projects focused on improving public welfare. Significant infrastructure projects, like the urban-rural integrated water supply system, have advanced smoothly. Facilities such as the Shuangxi Central Kindergarten and the Lingxia Medical Technology Complex have opened, while emergency backup water source projects have been completed. These initiatives aim to continually satisfy the community’s increasing demands for a better quality of life.
According to local government data, from January to September 2024, the county’s GDP reached 10.16 billion yuan, marking a growth of 3.2%. Additionally, industrial output for the area grew by 5.8%, with urban residents’ per capita disposable income reaching 29,164 yuan—up by 2.8%, while rural residents saw their per capita disposable income rise to 16,564 yuan, reflecting a growth of 5.4%.
