Sino-German Cheongsam Cultural Association welcomes the Mid-Autumn Festival with -Flowers and Full Moon-

On September 16, the vibrant city of Munich hosted a captivating cultural event titled “Flower Blooming Under the Full Moon” at the Five Continents Museum. This event was organized by the China-Germany Qipao Culture Association, with support from the German Bach Cultural and Arts Association.

As attendees entered the museum, they were greeted by a stunning display of traditional costumes, crafts, Chinese calligraphy, paintings, and intricate paper-cutting art, immersing them in the richness of Chinese culture. Many German guests were particularly drawn to the diverse array of mooncakes, savoring their delightful flavors.

A standout moment of the evening was the artistic performances. With the captivating music of “Walking Through Life” setting the stage, members of the China-Germany Qipao Culture Association elegantly took the spotlight, signaling the show’s grand opening.

The performers presented a remarkable “Qipao Show,” tracing the evolution of women’s clothing in China across various historical eras. The audience was enchanted by the Munich Children’s Choir as they beautifully sang “Words of the West Wind.” In addition, a variety of acts from local groups, including the Tübingen Martial Arts School and the local Chinese Association, alongside pipa player Ms. Ye Xing from Munich, showcased the richness of traditional Chinese culture.

Consul Wang Jun from the Chinese Consulate in Munich expressed his thoughts on the significance of the Mid-Autumn Festival, which was just around the corner. He highlighted the timely collaboration between the Five Continents Museum and the China-Germany Qipao Culture Association for this event. Wang noted that the qipao, a traditional garment for Chinese women, symbolizes a vital piece of China’s cultural heritage and embodies the profound essence of Chinese culture.

Since its inception in 2017, the China-Germany Qipao Association has been committed to promoting qipao culture through exhibitions, classes, and discussions. Their initiatives have fostered meaningful exchanges between Eastern and Western civilizations, as well as between China and Germany. Furthermore, they’ve enriched the cultural lives of Chinese expatriates in Bavaria, strengthening their cultural identity and emotional connections.
