Sudden! Iran announces airspace closure after Israeli attack
According to a report by foreign media on October 26, the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization has officially announced the closure of Iran’s airspace. The announcement specifies that the airspace will remain closed until 9:00 AM local time on Saturday (1:30 AM Eastern Time in the U.S.).
Earlier that morning, prior to and during an Israeli attack on Iran, CNN observed four commercial flights taking off from Iran’s capital, Tehran, via the flight tracking website FlightRadar24.
On the same day, reports surfaced regarding Israel’s military operations targeting Iran. Israeli forces launched strikes on Iranian military bases and several facilities from multiple directions, including the western and southwestern areas.
According to AFP, Iranian media have reported hearing explosions near Tehran. However, there have been no reports of explosions coming from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps military centers located in the western or southwestern parts of the capital. Sources indicate that some of the explosions were the result of air defense systems intercepting the Israeli attacks around Tehran.
