The 2024 China Automobile Cross-Country Championship Yuhuan Station will start in early November

On October 14, a press conference was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, announcing the upcoming 2024 China Automobile Off-Road Championship, which will take place in Yuhuan. The event is scheduled for November 7-10 in Yuhuan, Taizhou, Zhejiang.

During the conference, attendees learned that the 2024 championship consists of various categories including manufacturer, production, modified, open, UTV, women’s, light off-road, and Bumblebee groups. Participants will check in and undergo vehicle inspections on November 7, with qualifying rounds on the 8th, preliminary races on the 9th, and the opening ceremony and finals on the 10th.

He Jiandong, the full-time vice chairman and secretary-general of the China Automobile and Motorcycle Sports Federation, shared insights about the event’s significance. “Since 2020, the China Automobile Off-Road Championship has formed a deep bond with Yuhuan. The finals have taken place here successfully, creating a lasting impact. This year, renowned local driver Han Wei was crowned the ‘Four Crown King’ in the Rally of China, having honed his skills in off-road racing. We believe this competition will attract even more motorsport enthusiasts.”

Notably, Yuhuan is one of China’s youngest cities, located in the southeastern coastal region and known for its robust private economy. The automotive parts industry is a leading sector in Yuhuan, which features over 4,000 automotive production enterprises offering more than 6,000 product types, supporting well-known car manufacturers both domestically and internationally with an annual output value exceeding 50 billion yuan.

Currently, Yuhuan is actively pursuing a “Big Leap Forward” initiative to elevate its traditional industries, aiming to establish a trillion-yuan industrial cluster. Hosting this championship will not only promote the integration of local cultural and sports industries with key economic sectors but also facilitate the transformation and upgrading of its automotive parts industry, contributing to high-quality economic growth.

Zhou Yang, the mayor of Yuhuan, emphasized the city’s commitment to hosting car races, stating, “In recent years, we have successfully organized multiple off-road championships, driven by our passion to put on great events and ignite the city’s spirit. With comprehensive facilities for various sports, we’re increasingly attracting major national competitions like triathlons. More and more sports enthusiasts are discovering Yuhuan through these events, making it an emerging destination for sports tourism in southeastern Zhejiang.”
