The first global data technology conference will be held in Beijing

On October 16, 2023, in Beijing, a reporter from China News Service learned that the First Global Data Technology Conference (GDTC) will be held on October 29-30, 2024, in Beijing. This event is organized by the Next Generation Internet National Engineering Center and supported by prominent organizations such as the International Data Space Association (IDSA), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Global IPv6 Forum, the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), the China Electronic Technology Standardization Institute (CESI), and the China Cybersecurity Review Technology and Certification Center (CCRC).

The conference will delve into various trending topics in data technology, starting from the overall architecture of data infrastructure. Key areas of focus will include data spaces, privacy computing, blockchain, cross-border data and privacy technology, and high-speed data networks. The event will cover the entire lifecycle of data, from collection and aggregation to circulation, transaction, utilization, and security governance.

A highlight of the agenda is the plenary session themed “Building Interconnected Data Infrastructure,” alongside specialized sub-forums on privacy technology and cross-border data flow, privacy computing and blockchain, a roundtable on global data spaces, and high-speed data networks. Additionally, there will be special activities such as the IDSA Member Day.

Over two days, more than a hundred global guests will engage in discussions and exchanges regarding key dimensions of data technology, including research and development, standard-setting, and application promotion. During the plenary session on the 29th, several influential industry experts—such as Academician Wu Hequan from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Yang Jianjun, Secretary of CESI, Zhao Houlin, former Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union and Honorary Chairman of the China Communication Society, Li Zhengmao, Chairman of the Global Cloud Network Broadband Industry Association (WBBA), and Reinhold Achatz, President of IDSA—will share insights on the latest advancements and trends in data technology.
