The first Tai Chi National Fitness Competition finals were held
The First National Mass Fitness Taijiquan Finals recently took place in Dongping County, Shandong Province, highlighting the growing popularity of this ancient martial art across all age groups. Known for its gentle and slow movements, as well as rich cultural significance, Taijiquan was included as one of five official competition categories in this year’s mass fitness event. The tournament aimed to further promote the widespread practice and development of this form of exercise.
After fierce competition across seven regions—including North, Northeast, East, Central, South, Southwest, and Northwest China—23 teams emerged to compete in the finals.
The competition comprised three categories: the 24-form simplified Taijiquan, the 42-form Taijiquan competition routine, and the 32-form Taijijian competition routine, with each conducted as a team event.
This event was organized by the General Administration of Sport of China and the Chinese National Sports Federation, with support from various local sports associations. In the end, the Shandong provincial team excelled in the 24-form simplified Taijiquan, while the Guangdong team claimed victory in the 42-form Taijiquan routine, and the Fujian team won the 32-form Taijijian competition.
