General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Su Lin, President Liang Qiang, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Zheng met with Zhang Youxia respectively

From October 24 to 26, Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, led a delegation to Vietnam at the invitation of the Vietnamese government. During the visit, he met with key Vietnamese leaders, including General Secretary of the Communist Party Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

In their discussions, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong asked Zhang to convey warm greetings and best wishes to General Secretary Xi Jinping. The Vietnamese leadership emphasized the strong connection between the revolutionary efforts of Vietnam and China, recalling the significant support China provided in Vietnam’s quest for national independence and socialist development. Vietnam reaffirmed its commitment to cultivating a friendly relationship with China as a strategic policy priority and remains dedicated to upholding the One China principle. With recent developments in their bilateral defense relations, the Vietnamese expressed hopes to deepen practical cooperation, enhance strategic trust, unite to tackle challenges, and jointly maintain regional and global peace and stability.

In response, Zhang conveyed Xi Jinping’s cordial greetings and best wishes to Nguyen Phu Trong. He highlighted China’s appreciation for the traditional friendship shared by their parties, nations, and militaries. Zhang expressed willingness to work together with Vietnam to fully implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two parties and countries. He emphasized the importance of seizing historical opportunities to strengthen exchanges and cooperation across various fields, including politics, economics, security, and culture, and to promote the healthy and stable development of military relations, thereby effectively supporting the China-Vietnam community of shared future.

During the visit, Zhang also met with Vietnamese Defense Minister Phan Van Giang for talks, where they exchanged in-depth views on international and regional situations as well as military relations, culminating in the signing of relevant agreements to enhance defense cooperation.
